BACKGROUND

Our chief instructor Coach Mark has developed and established the Crime+Terror Survival (CTS) "Knife & Gun" Combined Close Quarters Combat (C-CQC) System parallel to the CTS Krav Maga system from the nineties and has used, tested and further developed it in his long security and self-defense training practice to this day. The system is based on his experiences and those of a number of other professionals, instructors and collegues, who have influenced and accompanied him in his long career in security operations and as an combat & self-defense instructor.

As in all our training classes and courses: All actions must strictly adhere to the law and legal requirements.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION OF THE CTS "Knife & Gun" C-CQC SYSTEM

The system is based on statistical sources and personal experiences about the techniques and tactics used, but especially the distance of the attack, whether with a firearm or impact (blunt/edged) weapon. That said, if we look at numerous stats and case histories we do have, civilian, law enforcement and even from some military scenarios, the range of attack with firearms is in the vast majority of cases somewhere between 2,5 Meter and 5 meter, many even less than that. Attacks with impact (blunt/edged) weapons are in the vast majority even closer between 0 to 3 meter.

Our training focus is on the most dangerous scenarios, where there is a real danger for life and health - be it in self-defense or third party / close protection.

KRAV MAGA  AND  CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ?

In contrast to CTS-Krav Maga, which mostly focuses on unarmed combat against armed attackers, the CTS-C-CQC system is completely focusing on getting hold or using a weapon as quickly as possible in order to defend yourself against attacks with deadly force. This strategy has disadvantages (if there is no weapon in reach) but also tremendous advantages. The trainig concentrates on extreme close ranged defense with concealed handgun and knife, as well as a with a carried shotgun or rifle. The handling of the panga/machete as a highly effective defensive weapon in CQC is also trained.

WEAPONLESS KRAV MAGA IN THE CTS-"KNIFE & GUN" CQC SYSTEM

Weaponless contact combat (= weaponless Krav Maga) is still of great importance, but in our CTS-C-CQC system it is "only" used to create the necessary time and space to use the weapon effectively - even against multiple attackers.

In addition, CTS Krav Maga is extremly important to ward off attempts at disarmament, which in extreme close quarters are ALWAYS part of the dynamic of such a violent confrontation.

The focus on the use of weapons, on the other hand, saves a lot of time for the otherwise very training-intensive unarmed Krav Maga training, which requires a lot of time and energy in order to be able to reliably neutralize an attacker without weapons, with "bare hands".

DEFENSE AGAINST ATTACKS WITH EDGED AND BLUNT WEAPONS

The fact that most common weapon attacks outside of a modern battlefield are not with firearms but with impact weapons, especially edged weapons such as knives, prompted us to pay special attention to defending against such weapons with a firearm or a knife or other kind of impact weapon. This aspect of self-defense is therefore a very important discipline in our CTS - Knife & Gun - Combined CQC System.

EXTREME CLOSE QUARTERS SHOOTING

The close distances in CQC require special shooting techniques, both with handguns and long guns. These shooting techniques are not normally part of standard combat shooting training. In the context of the CTS-C-CQC classes, however, the need for these shooting techniques becomes clear.

WEAPON & FIREARM RETENTION

CTS-"Knife & Gun" Combined Close Quarters Combat also focuses on self defense against disarmament attempts. This is also based on our own experiences and well supported by US crime statistics. Year after year, nearly one in five US police officers killed as part of a crime get shot with their own (or a partner’s) weapon.

Given the very close ranges at which attack and defense take place, even when carrying a firearm or any other weapon, it is obvious that the defense against getting disarmed while using/trying to use handguns, long guns, knifes and other weapons for self-defense, must be an important part of training.

Most attacks are unarmed and it is of great importance for a shooter to be prepared for boxing, kicking and grappling attacks while carrying a firearm - which could lead to "a fight for the weapon".

GUNPOINT ARRESTING

Bring "the bad guy" into custody. - Whenever possible, or if shooting is legally questionable, the shooter should be able to use his weapon to arrest the attacker. That is especially important for those who want to or must bring the offender to justice.

CLOSE PROTECTION

In addition to self-defense, the protection of innocent people who are the victims of a criminal attack is another important topic of our CTS-"Knife & Gun" CQC System, whether in the bodyguard profession or in private life. Also here, by far the most of such incidents happen at close range and must be solved with "Knife & Gun" according to our CTS-C-CQC- principles.

PRACTICE-ORIENTATED TRAINING & PERFORMANCE UNDER STRESS

Our CTS-C-CQC training provides systematic, instinctive motion patterns across a range of stress-inducing scenarios and allows the student to be more effective under the stress of confrontation and to better control the negative effects of the "adrenaline shock".

OUR TRAINING METHODS

The practical training mostly consist of dry practise with the unloaded firearm or an Airsoft replica, respectively with a knife / dummy knife, or other impact/edged weapons in simulated attacker-defender exercises. Strict safety precautions are the basis for all our realistic partner exercises.

The training differs significantly from the otherwise known shooting training with live-fire shooting at the range. Because of the complex, physically demanding movements and techniques, training time for live fire shooting has to be reduced. Advantage: The training is much more cost-effective and cheaper than "normal" shooting training. Live fire training on the shooting range only takes place when the techniques are really ingrained and mastered, and can be applied by advanced students in self-training sessions.

THE NECESSITY FOR CTS-"KNIFE & GUN" COMBINED CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT

It must be clear to every gun or knife owner that he/she can only use these weapons effectively if he/she is intensively trained in CTS-C-CQC. The demands of violent confrontations, which almost always take place at extremely close range, require special multi-diciplinary training that cannot be replaced by any other form of training.

"Apart from military battlefields, weapons are used for self-defense at very close range and under extreme time pressure! - The common way of using a gun is by far not enough to cope with such scenarios !"

CTS "Knife & Gun" Combined Close Quarters Combat was developed by our chief instructor Coach Mark based on his experiences and those of a number of his trainers and colleagues who have influenced and inspired him in his long career in security operations.

"The CTS - "Knife & Gun" Combined Close Quarters Combat System is especially designed for realistic self-defense using weapons, in which the use of unarmed and armed techniques are harmoniously combined in order to achieve maximum effect."
